Sarah Hunter is appointed Independent Non-Executive Director at Skateboard GB

Skateboard GB is delighted to announce that Sarah Hunter has been appointed as an Independent Non-Executive Director on the Board at Skateboard GB. This follows an open and transparent recruitment process carried out with the support of Sport England, which attracted a large number of high calibre applicants.

Sarah is the Director of Global Public Policy at X (formerly Google X) where she helps engineers, scientists and entrepreneurs invent and launch new technologies to solve big problems in the world today. Before joining Google, Sarah was Prime Minister Tony Blair’s Senior Policy Adviser on Culture, Media and Sport in Downing Street and supported the work to bring the 2012 Olympic Games to London. She is on a Trustee of NESTA and a part time lecturer at Stanford University in California

The members of the board work on a voluntary basis to provide strategic oversight, governance, financial scrutiny and guidance to the organisation. Their work ensures that Skateboard GB is able to operate effectively as it supports the growth and sustainability of skateboarding in England, as well as identifying and nurturing talented skaters towards Olympic success across Great Britain.

Upon being appointed in the role Sarah commented “I'm thrilled to be joining Skateboard GB. As a parent of a passionate skateboarder and a former resident of California, I've seen how powerful the impact of skateboarding can be in people's lives. I'm excited to be able to bring my experience in sport policy, Government and technology to help strengthen the community further"
