Skateboard GB announces Street Skateboard Team

Skateboard GB is excited to announce that it has selected Joe Hinson and Alex Decunha to ride for the 2022 Skateboard GB Street Skateboarding Team and that they will compete at the first Olympic qualifying event in Rome later this week.
Joe recently clinched victory at the Skateboard GB X Habito National Championships, his second win at the competition after taking first place in 2019.
Alex Decunha narrowly missed out on a place at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and has placed at numerous international events, as well as taking 1st place at the 2021 National Championships.
Joe and Alex will be supported and funded to compete at Olympic qualifying events over the next year, allowing them to gain vital points to strive for a place at the Olympic Games in Paris 2024, along with the Park Skateboarding Team, which will be announced later this year before the first Olympic Qualifying Park event in Brazil in October 2022.
Selected after a comprehensive and open process which provided all British skateboarders the opportunity to apply to be a member of the team.

The skateboarder’s ability to qualify or medal at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
The longer term development opportunities of talented skateboarder’s who have the potential to be successful at future competitions such as the LA 2028 and Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games.
Skateboard GB's selection panel evaluated several key criteria when reviewing team applications, including but not limited to: The skateboarder's trick difficulty level and repertoire, considering several execution standards, including trick height, speed, fluidity, distance and landing quality. Their competition results and performances and their eligibility and behaviour, including the skateboarder's readiness to compete and ability to skate under pressure.
This week sees the first Skateboard Street Olympic Qualifying event in Rome, Italy. This will form the first part of the season and will also see James White, Jamie Manning, Tommy Corbridge, Daisy Buchanan, Marieme Corlett, Sam Bruce, and Ayva-Mae Whittenbury all skating for Great Britain and supported by Skateboard GB.
