Job Description
Skateboard GB is recruiting!

We are expanding and are creating a new role of Community Development Officer. This brand-new post will allow us to grow our support to the skateboarding community and help build skateable spaces within cities and towns.

The role will be responsible for working with the skateboard community and local authorities to manage and deliver the provision of a number of skateable spaces in urban areas. This is in addition to creating resources and initiatives to support skateparks, coaches and the wider community to prepare for the increased interest in skateboarding that there will be after the Olympic Games in the summer of 2021.

This is a great opportunity for a highly driven, competent and innovative individual with a successful background in sports and/or community development. You will be used to working with local community groups, local authorities and other stakeholders, and will have had experience associated with the development of programmes, projects and services.  

We are looking for an exceptional individual who is:  
- Enthusiastic and passionate about skateboarding; with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.  

- Creative and curious to explore new ideas to help make SBGB more effective and have a bigger impact on the skateboarding community.  

- An understanding and appreciation of skateable spaces in skateboarding including skateparks and DIY spots

- Self-motivated and able to prioritise tasks. 

- You must be able to work on own initiative, have excellent organisational & planning skills.

- A track record of brokering, working in and managing successful partnerships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, including local authorities, education, private, and community sectors to deliver successful project outcomes

- You will have experience associated with the development of initiatives, projects and services relating to sport; for example, kitemarks and coaching progression.

- Working experience of monitoring budgets and completing finance returns in line with financial policies and procedures.

The role is home-based and will involve considerable travel across England. Consequently, a full clean UK driving licence and access to a car are essential, as is the availability to work flexibly including regular evenings and weekends throughout the year. The successful candidate will also be required to undertake a DBS check upon offer of the role.
