Skateboard England is delighted to announce that we have appointed Ben Powell as our Digital Engagement Officer.

The role has been created due to grant funding received from Sport England. Ben will be responsible for shaping, delivering, supporting and monitoring the creation of a Digital Content Hub designed to reach, engage and provide an information service to the skateboarding community and those who might want to start skateboarding.

Ben has over 20 years of experience running the UK's largest and most prominent Skateboarding media institution, Sidewalk Magazine and has also been involved in many other aspects of the skateboarding industry including events, skateboard advocacy and social media management.

Lucy Adams, chair of Skateboard England said “We’re delighted that Ben has agreed to work for us in this role at Skateboard England. He brings a wealth of experience and will be a great asset to the organisation and the skateboarding community as we look to support them and the sport.”

Ben said, “I am very excited to be working for Skateboard England in this newly created role.

“Skateboarding is growing exponentially, with new participants from every sector of society joining the community daily.

“With this growth in numbers comes a need for a wealth of resource and information to ensure that all skateboarders are granted equal access to the transformative power of this shared culture.

“In this role I will aim to expedite engagement across the community, with a view to foregrounding the work and commitment of those out there pushing their local skateboarding scenes for the good of all and to support those who want to start their skateboarding journey.

“I openly invite anybody who is involved in such activities to get in touch so that we can work together for the betterment of our community as a whole.”
