NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the SECOND ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING of the members of the above-named Company will be held at House of Vans London, Arches 228 – 232, Station Approach Road, SE1 8SW at 12 noon on Friday 16th September 2016 to transact the following business:

1.              To receive and adopt the Minutes of the Annual General Meeting held on Friday 18th September 2015.

2.              To receive Statement of Accounts, Balance Sheet and Annual Report.

3.              Appointment of Accountants/Auditors and Solicitors for the year.

4.              To transact business covered by Notice of Motion.

Report of Activities since September 2015

The Board has been created with a cross-section of people from the skateboard industry/community. We are starting the process of looking at skill-sets so that we can appoint suitable Independent Directors, in line with best practise and Sport England/Government guidelines.

Set-up a basic website for communication purposes which is also gathering details of individuals who support the aims of the NGB.

We have set-up Working Groups made up of individuals within skateboarding who have expertise in particular areas. These include Workforce and Facilities, with others to follow.

We have launched Skateboard England's Level 1 Coaching Skateboarding Sessions course in April 2016, in conjunction with 1st4Sport and initially delivered by Sk8 Safe. This is the first Ofqual accredited skateboarding specific course in England. The qualification is designed to provide a benefit to skaters so that it prepares them for employment as a Session Coach in skateboarding. Following the course coaches will be able to plan, deliver and evaluate individual skateboarding sessions in order to get more people skateboarding. In attending the course, coaches are introduced to the practical and theoretical aspects of planning, delivering and evaluating coaching sessions in skateboarding in a safe environment, whether that’s in skateparks, schools or the community. Its a course designed to support an increase in participation.

We’ve successfully applied for coaching bursaries for several skateparks to qualify their existing “coaches” through the NGB Level 1 and are currently negotiating with a number of sponsors to extend this bursary scheme nationally.

We’ve had several meetings regarding facilities, including with Sport England, and started to look at how we look to be strategic and offer support as skateparks are being built or refurbished. Within that we are considering supporting and recommending a Park Mark accreditation which has been developed by a large skatepark in Leeds who are keen for us to use it to help support best practise in the industry. This Strategy will mean that public funding will be more readily available to skateparks.

We have supported and given advice to ten different skateparks who are in the process of applying for funding.

A group of Masters students from Sheffield Hallam University have just undertaken a facilities and participation audit for us, with input from Sport England. This audit shows there are approximately 450,000 skaters using 700 Local Authority outdoor skateparks across the country. This figure doesn’t include privately operated indoor skatepark users or skaters who just skate on the street.

There are a number of partnerships we have created and others we are developing. We are very conscious that we need to work with other organisations in order to increase participation and can use existing programmes such as Street Games, UK Active ParkLives and the Premier Football League. We are in discussions with them and others about various pilots that will be delivered in due course, using coaches that have qualified through the coaching course. As an example, we have just received an Awards for All grant of £10,000 for a local skate school to work with Sheffield United FC to deliver 26 weeks of skateboarding sessions into deprived areas of the city. If successful, this would be a model that has the potential to be rolled-out across the PFL Kicks Programme in 92 different areas in England.

There has then been general daily correspondence with answering queries from individuals, CSP’s, local authorities, skate parks, etc and writing letters of support for funding.
